Friends of the Rosary,Today, the twenty-first Sunday in ordinary time, Jesus asks in Matthew 16:13–20 the question every disciple has to answer: “Who do you say that I am?”Christ the Lord gives Peter the keys of the Kingdom after Peter confesses: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”"And so I say to you, you are Peter,and upon this rock I will build my church,and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven.Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven;and whatever you lose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." In the second reading (Romans 11:33–36), St. Paul reminds us that all wisdom, authority, and glory come from God: “from him and through him and for him are all things.”For our prayer, the question is: Who do I say Jesus is, and therefore what are my choices?If our response is that Christ is the Son of the living God, then we commit —and ask— to strengthen our faith and to build our lives in the Lord.Today is also the feast day of Saint Rose of Lima, the first canonized saint of the Americas, known for prayer, penance, and a deep love for Christ.
