Stephen ColemanThe parable of the rich man and Lazarus is a very difficult and complex parable in the Gospel of Luke. On one hand, it touches on a very common theme in Luke: the problem with riches and possessions. Yet in the midst of this story where the lowly are lifted up and the rich and proud humbled, there is a line where Abraham says, “They have Moses and the prophets, they should have listened to them.” This story is also about the importance of Scripture as a source of faith and life to us.
