Author Amy Bloom Shares Her Story of Helping Her Ailing Husband End His Life

This week we speak with best selling author Amy Bloom.  Amy Bloom is the author of four novels: White Houses, Lucky Us, Away, and Love Invents Us.   She has just published her new memoir, In Love: A Memoir of Love and Loss which chronicles the story of her husband's decision to end his life after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.  Amy's husband Brian was strong and vibrant when he was diagnosed with Alzheimers and he was determined to die on his feet, not live on his knees. Brian and Amy made the painful decision to go to Dignitas, an organization based in Switzerland that empowers a person to end their own life with dignity and peace.  She shares the story of what the process is like when this decision is made, how it affects families and her personal thoughts through the journey.
