autistics anonymous - the food norms/quirks

from Inside Voice with Martha's Mind · host Martha Norris

Food is something I feel extremely passionate about for many reasons. My psychology/relationship is a HISTORY. I loved learning about food on a scientific level. I loved the psychology around other people's food when I was a practicing nutritionist. But this episode invites you into the world of Autistics Anonymous; the food edition. Autistic people tend to have a very specific relationship with food. because food is a science - there should be a logic based on biology. Yet, food is also a feeling, a pattern a comfort that autistic people can harness more than maybe neurotypical people. This invites you into the mind of autistic people and the sometimes 'weird' quirks of food behavior but also a very endearing part of me and something I know anyone can relate with.
