After receiving his early education, he graduated from high school in 1999, enlisting in the United States Navy in June at the age of 18 and completing recruit training at RTC Great Lakes the same year. In October 2000, he completed Airman Apprenticeship “A” School in Pensacola, Florida, and was quickly ordered to report to his First Duty station in San Diego, California. A former Helicopter mechanic(AD), before completion of his first tour, he was given the chance to cross-rate to the AZ rating.His duty assignments include Helicopter squadrons HSM-75 (Wolfpack), HSM-73 (Battlecats), HSM-71 (Raptors), HSM-35 (Magicians), Naval Aviation Technical training Unit, North Island (Instructor Duty), Fleet Readiness Center Southwest Detachment, North Island (FRCSW). ALL on NAS North Island, San Diego, California. He deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom on the USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74), USS Antietam(CG-54), USS Rentz x2(FFG-46), USS Ingraham(FFG-61), USS America(LHA-6).His personal Awards and qualifications include Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medals, Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, and various campaign awards. His qualifications include Enlisted Aviation warfare specialist(EAWS), Enlisted Surface warfare specialist(ESWS), Master Training specialist (MTS), Plane Captain(SH-60B/MH-60R), and Collateral Duty Inspector(CDI).
