Die Grundsteinlegung zur heutigen imposanten und prachtvollen Rokokokirche Vierzehnheiligen erfolgte 1743. Balthasar Neumann, der große süddeutsche Barockbaumeister, lieferte die Pläne, musste diese aber mehrfach umarbeiten. Er selbst konnte die Fertigstellung der Basilika nicht mehr erleben.
