Most of the music for the concept album was composed in the spring and early summer of 1983. The lyrics for the concept album songs came later. Some of the lyrics were written in the summer of '83 and more in the following months and years. Aftermath was always planned to be instrumental. George suspects that much of Aftermath was actually composed in 1983. The sheet of paper with musical direction is dated 21st February 1987. Besides the guitar, you can hear the EDP Wasp, and a portable radio tuned to the short wave, with George twiddling the dial. The concept album was loosely based on the computer game Wizardry, by Andrew Greenberg and Robert Woodhead. The software title was a huge and groundbreaking success on the Apple II in 1982.
