She Was Here by George. From Volume I Side A of the Band of Georges. Composed 25th June 1982, from 02:20am until 03:50am. Recorded May 1986. Mixed October 1986. Lifted from cassette March 2025. Copyright © 1982 Explicit Music. Copyright ℗ 2025 Wud Records. Fun Facts: This tune was composed in the dead of night after George had unexpectedly woken up. He crept downstairs to his father's study, trying not to wake anybody, and wrote this song using an unplugged electric guitar. That same guitar, the Kay Les Paul copy, can be heard in this version playing the rhythm guitar. It took a couple of hours or so to write it and everything came all at once. This song was written for a girl in the sixth form called Naomi who had the longest, swishiest hair and was very charming. The following day George was supposed to go to Ottery to do some music with Simon and some other people, but he didn't find the bus station and therefore missed the bus. Later that day he phoned Simon to say sorry for his non-presence and said that he had written a new song - this. The lead guitar is an Ibanez Roadstar going through a Boss OC2 octaver, a Boss HM2 distortion, and a Guyatone Delay, into an HH 5-Channel PA with reverb and a pair of 2 x 12 HH Dual Concentric PA speakers.
