Band of Georges: Slark Lywilsbie

from Wud Records Awesome RSS Feed · host Wud Records

Slark Lywilsbie by George. From Volume II Side A of the Band of Georges. Music by G. Davies. Composed circa 8th November 1982. Recorded May 1986. Mixed October 1986. Lifted from cassette March 2025. Copyright © 1982 Explicit Music. Copyright ℗ 2025 Wud Records. Fun Facts: Slark Lywilsbie is a jolly instrumental piece in the key of F major. It received its first airing in the days of Now. Simon always referred to it as "Jack Rabbit". Slark Lywilsbie was performed live many times by Rough Terrain. Laney made up a funny dance to go with it. Rough Terrain recorded Slark Lywilsbie at Daylight studios in Honiton in 1988. You can hear the full version and the stripped back 'bare' remix on their Exit Stage Deaf album. Lywilsbie is pronounced "Lie" (the opposite of truth) - "Wills" - "Bee", with the stress on the second syllable. Slark is a utopian city from a fantasy world and Lywilsbie is made up from the beginnings and ends of the names of two girls who George used to know.
