This song features a slapped acoustic guitar. The Man Next Door is a song about George's neighbour. He was a violent thug who taught his children a lot of antisocial behaviour. His children spent most of the time brawling with each other, and other kids from the neighbourhood. The man eventually attacked his wife and broke her arm. The family separated, moved away, and their two cats disappeared with them. These two cats, a silver tabby called Suzy and a ginger tom, were best friends with George's mother's cat, William. William was very sad when his two friends were no longer there.
