Fun Facts: They Painted Their Bodies was the first finished song for The Concept Album. Although a lot of the music for The Concept Album came fairly quickly, the lyrics did not. They Painted Their Bodies was composed in a caravan in some woods near Dunsford, on the edge of Dartmoor. George and Yvonne were ostensibly going to write a lot of songs during the week they stayed there, but only managed the one. The did manage to enact a ceremony that would feature later on the concept album. The Concept Album told the tale of some adventurers who embarked upon an epic quest to defeat a terrible evil against insurmountable odds. The idea came from a computer game on the Apple II called Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord by Andrew Greenberg and Robert Woodhead. They Painted Their Bodies is in the key of C minor and is the second song for the album.
