Another of the phrases that Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta especially appreciated was in number six. It says, "Absolute is sentient; thou hast proved. Impersonal calamity; thou hast moved," which is a reference to the fact that many so-called teachers of the Vedic system give an impersonal conclusion that the Ultimate Truth is impersonal, and this is incorrect. One need only refer to the Bhagavad-gītā, where Kṛṣṇa says things like: brahmaṇo hi pratiṣṭhāham amṛtasyāvyayasya ca śāśvatasya ca dharmasya sukhasyaikāntikasya ca to understand that He is the source of impersonal Brahman, or kleśo ’dhika-taras teṣām avyaktāsakta-cetasām avyaktā hi gatir duḥkhaṁ dehavadbhir avāpyate (BG 12.5) Kṛṣṇa mentions the pursuit of impersonality causes great suffering and is a stumbling block to coming to the perfection of life. So, who would remove that? Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī, by his very straightforward, strong preaching. In this talk, Śrīla Prabhupāda mentions the paramparā system. He specifically refers to it. You should listen to the lecture; it's only 24 minutes long (not that you wouldn't listen to it if it was longer, I'm just saying it's 24 minutes). In this lecture he specifically mentions that this is the paramparā system. He said that the student shouldn't always remain a student, and then he says, "No, you should always remain a student, but also the student has to become the next teacher." He said, "Just like I have received this message from my spiritual master, and now I'm teaching it to you." Similarly, you have a responsibility that although you always remain mūrkha, or fool, in front of your spiritual master—always submissive—still, you should become teacher next to pass it on to others." He said that is the responsibility of being in the Śrī Guru Paramparā. On Śrī Vyāsa-pūjā Day, we're worshipping Śrīla Vyāsadeva with the concept that the paramparā is for the dissemination of knowledge for the welfare of all. The highest truth is reality distinguished from illusion for the welfare of all. The guru is a principle and also a person. So we have this simultaneous appreciation on the Vyāsa-pūjā Day for the principle of Śrī Guru Paramparā.
