Sunday, August 7, 2022 Speaker: Andrew Wood “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves, take up his cross, and follow me” We live in a culture that suggests meaning and purpose is not something to be found outside of ourselves, but within ourselves. Couple that with an attention economy that is always selling you something on the basis that there good life is achieved by fulfilling all your desires. This perfect storm has left us anxiously feeding fleshly desires for the sake of creating meaning in our lives. This Sunday we’ll talk about Jesus’s call to deny our fleshly desires, allow them to be properly reordered by taking up our cross, and finding meaning in God’s intended purposes for us rather than creating it for ourselves.
