Pastor Andrew finishes Mark chapter 14. Together, we'll explore two contrasting responses: Jesus' faithfulness and Peter's denial. The question for all of us is, “Will you choose to be an agent of redemption like Jesus, or will you choose self-preserving denial like Peter?”As we draw closer to the end of our study in Mark, our hope is that, through our relationship with Jesus, we will be reminded and equipped to become more like Him and less like Peter, so that Milton can look more and more like heaven.

He will share from Jesus' time in the Garden of Gethsemane as we explore what it means to live with responsibility and faithfulness as followers of Christ.

Pastor Andrew continues our teaching through the Gospel of Mark. He will highlight two well-known stories: Jesus' anointing and His betrayal during the Passover. We will also take communion, as it's the first Sunday of the month and a fitting part of our journey through Mark's Gospel.

Pastor Andrew continues teaching through Mark 13, focusing on Jesus’ prediction of the temple’s destruction. He will reference the Old Testament prophet Daniel, whom Jesus quotes in this passage, to help us better understand what Jesus meant by His teaching and predictions.

This Sunday, Pastor Luiz will dive into Mark 12:18–27 to show how Jesus exposes the trap of empty religious arguments and points us back to what truly matters. Come ready for a message that challenges us to move past pointless debates, anchor our hearts in the sound doctrine of Christ's redeeming blood, and actively live out the faithful obedience He calls us to.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew will continue our walk through the Gospel of Mark with a special Mother’s Day teaching, connecting Jesus’ teaching on paying taxes to themes of identity and belonging, and the important role mothers often play in shaping who we are. We’ll see how mothers model the sacrificial love of Jesus, providing for us while also pointing us toward our core human need: belonging that leads to a secure identity.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew will teach through the beginning of Mark 12. We will explore what Jesus meant in His story about a vineyard, winepresses, watchtowers, tenants, murder, and the vineyard owner’s one true son.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew will unpack Mark 11:27–33, where the chief priests try to trap Jesus with a dishonest question. In this story, Jesus outwits them while making clear where He believes His authority, and John the Baptist’s, comes from. We’ll reflect on how our own faith and its expression can easily drift into the political rather than stand firmly on the Truth.

We are excited to welcome Alliance Canada President (and proud Southside Member) Darren Herbold, who will share how courageous faith helped shape the Christian and Missionary Alliance, from A.B. Simpson’s bold beginnings to the global movement it is today. God is still inviting us to join Him. What step of faith will you take?

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew will cover two chapters of Mark’s Gospel, highlighting a common thread that leads us to the triumphal entry on Palm Sunday next week. This week will explore topics like true greatness, Jesus’ posture toward children, divorce, managing wealth, and more!

We have the privilege of learning from Dean Martin, a long-time member of Southside, as he continues our series on Mark. Together, we’ll reflect on the story of the Transfiguration and what it means for us today.

Are you desperate for a sign from God? You’re not alone. This week, Pastor Andrew will look at the beginning of Mark 8 and see how Jesus responded to the religious leaders and his very own disciples, as they continued to put Jesus to the test, requesting the very kinds of signs that had been in front of their faces the whole time.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew will teach through the story at the end of Mark chapter 7, where Jesus heals a deaf and mute man in the region of Decapolis. He will show that 700 years before Jesus, the prophet Isaiah spoke of these very things happening when the Kingdom of God was at hand. This Sunday will build your faith by seeing the fulfillment of messianic promises after 700 years, and by seeing the fruit of this promised kingdom for 2,000 years since the life and teaching of Jesus.

We are excited to welcome Christin Taylor to Southside this Sunday! A member of the teaching team at Westheights Community Church, Christin has been sharing the Word since 2018. She holds a doctorate in English Literature, manages Writing Services at Wilfrid Laurier University, and is a published author. Christin lives in New Hamburg with her husband, Dwayne, and their two children, Nathan and Noelle.This Sunday, Christin will lead us through Mark 7 as we explore Jesus’ radical redefinition of purity, where the old rules give way to a new reality that begins not with what we do, but with what Jesus does in us. Join us as we consider the question Mark keeps asking every reader: Will you cling to the old way, or step into the freeing, heart-level way of Jesus?

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew will share a brief teaching from Mark 6. He’ll also take time during the service to talk about Southside communities, introduce leaders and hosts, and help everyone get connected in different ways to life at Southside.

This Sunday, David Busuttil will continue our teaching series on the Gospel of Mark. He’ll zero in on the amazing story of Jesus’ healing of Jairus’s daughter in Mark 5:21-43 as we kick off the new year.

This past Sunday, Pastor Andrew returned to preach from Mark Chapter 3, a section we missed while guests blessed us over the previous three weeks. In this teaching, we witness the amazing power of Jesus to drive out evil spirits and discover profound truths about the familial identity of those in Christ.

This Sunday, we hear from Chris Chase, the Strategic Engagement Lead at Open Doors Canada, a non-profit that focuses on strengthening Christians where faith costs the most. Chris continues our teaching on the book of Mark, focusing on Mark 4. He also shares with us about the global persecuted church. Chris is a husband and father of two teenagers, and spent close to 20 years split between pastoral ministry, non-profit fundraising & seminary administration. When not with his family or serving at his local church, Chris loves writing, being a sports and gym enthusiast, and having coffee, both on his own and with friends.

This Sunday, we had another special Guest from Western Canada, Neil Campbell. Neil came to us from Family Foundations Canada, a recognized family-oriented ministry across Canada. Neil is married to Annette and is a dedicated family man. He serves as the national leader of Family Foundations Canada, an organization devoted to strengthening families through the principles of biblical teaching and spiritual growth. Neil shares with us a special message about becoming a family that shines light in the darkness.

This Sunday, we had the privilege of engaging with a teaching on Mark Chapters 2-3 by Chris Throness. Chris Throness serves as the Director of Leader Formation for The Alliance Canada, helping shape the next generation of pastors and leaders. A third-generation Alliance pastor, he has ministered in three Alliance churches across British Columbia, most recently as the Lead Pastor of Kamloops Alliance Church. Chris lives in Calgary, Alberta, with his wife Krista and their three kids. He is passionate about raising a new wave of leaders who will make Jesus known in Canada and around the world. Chris is amazed by Jesus, and hopes that you walk away more amazed by Jesus as well.

This week, Pastor Andrew unpacks Mark 1:29-45. We turn our attention to Jesus’s compassion, his prayerful discernment, and his full devotion to the purpose and calling he was sent with.

This Sunday we get a chance to hear from some of our Y@M students about their experience at our recent youth retreat in Mississauga. We follow that with a teaching from from Pastor Andrew about the gospel of Mark in Chapter 1:14-28 where Jesus calls his first disciples to drop their nets and follow him.

We're starting a new teaching series on the Gospel of Mark, where we'll explore Jesus' life and grow in our amazement of his identity, actions, and teachings. This past Sunday, Luiz Godinho, a Southside community member and Alliance New Venture Partner, explored the question “In a world shaken by tragedy and injustice, how are we [as Christians] called to respond?” Luiz walks us through what it means to live a truly Christ-centered life and ministry, drawing from Romans 12:9-20. Together we discover the shape of Christlike love, the resilience of hope, and the revolution of overcoming evil with good. Join us as we seek to not only think like Christians, but to live like Christ.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew concludes our "What Christians Think" teaching season and lead our congregation through communion. We explore Ecclesiology (the study of the Church) and examine what Christians believe about the Church.

This Sunday features our youth and recaps our exciting VBS week! A few of our Youth students will lead worship, and VBS leaders will share stories and highlights from the week.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew concludes our Question & Response mini-series on Christian thinking. Today, he tackles topics such as the relationship between Science and Scripture, swearing, evolution, healing prayer, and biblical obedience. We also celebrate this summer's Vacation Bible School, where our dedicated team of volunteers, interns, and staff guided 23 children through an enriching discipleship experience.

This week Pastor Andrew responds to questions re: What Christians Think. He covers topics like Inerrancy, Gifts of the Spirit, divorce and remarriage, making money, science and scripture, and more.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew addresses soteriology—the doctrine of salvation—and explore different Christian perspectives on this topic. Affirming the line from the Nicene Creed "For us and for our salvation," Pastor Andrew explains how we not only receive God's mercy at a moment of salvation, but also experience His new and fresh mercies each morning.

District Superintendent for the Central District of The Alliance Canada, Shane Gould, speaks on 'What Christians Think About The Holy Spirit.' As part of our summer series, the message looks into what the Bible says about the person and ministry of the Holy Spirit that leads to a greater encounter and life with Christ, including misunderstandings, mystery, and how the Holy Spirit moves.

This week, Pastor Andrew teaches on Christian Anthropology: what Christians think about humanity. He covers things like Imago Dei, Sin Nature, Gnosticism, the Flesh vs. the Spirit, Redemption & New Creation.

This week Pastor Andrew teaches on what Christians think about Christ. With a focus on Christology, we explore the Christian doctrine called the hypostatic union: the humanity and divinity of Christ. If Christ is divine, how then shall we live?

In this weeks message, Gerald Tarcisius examines the role of Scripture and tradition in shaping the way Christians think, paying close attention to how these sources inform our understanding of truth. We also reflect on what a posture of humility looks like in theological reflection, and how believers can faithfully discern historical Orthodox truth amid a pluralistic and often confusing cultural landscape.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew continues the teaching series "What Christians Think" by exploring God's identity as a loving Father—focusing on both the first line of the Nicene Creed and the Lord's Prayer. Coinciding with Father's Day weekend, Pastor Andrew examines how Scripture portrays God as Father and the characteristics He displays.

This week's services included several special elements. We witnessed Calder's baptism at the end of the 10:45 am service, where he shared his testimony and we celebrated together. During the teaching time, Pastor Andrew gave a brief overview of the Christian understanding of baptism.

This Sunday we continue our teaching season called What Christians Think with a focus on scripture. David Busuttil, a regular attendee at Southside, helps us explore three questions from a historic Christian perspective: What is the Bible? What is the story of the Bible? How should we use the Bible in our spiritual journey toward Jesus? David draws from his education, ministry experience, and personal passion for this topic to lead us in this conversation.

This Sunday, Pastor Andrew describes the epistemological era that many social commentators suggest we're experiencing in the West: metamodernity. He discusses AI's impact on truth and knowledge, including our access to it, and explains the Christian perspective on natural versus special revelation.

This past Sunday, Pastor Andrew continued the teaching season called What Christians Think by exploring a common Christian epistemology: the correspondence theory of truth. He contrasts this with secular postmodern assumptions that challenge our Western culture and institutions. Pastor Andrew explains why a prior knowledge—accepted by faith—serves as the only viable foundation, and he explores how faith and revelation work together as pathways to understanding in the Christian framework.

This week Pastor Andrew sets up our What Christians Think teaching season with attention on the Nicene Creed and some thoughts from his time in London.
