Unfortunately, it didn't come to fruition. Paramount/Warner Bros. along with Platinum Dunes decided to reboot the franchise again with a new film. Two scripts were written: one from Nick Antosca (co-writer of Antlers and creator of TV show Channel Zero) and the other from Aaron Guzikowski (writer of Prisoners and creator of TV show Raised By Wolves).
