Mehr als fünf Jahre ist es her, dass André Wentzel und ich über einen seiner Lieblingsfilme aus der Godzilla-Reihe sprachen. Und da es mir seitdem immer wieder unter den Nägeln brannte, mehr über die ebenso langlebige wie legendäre Toho-Reihe zu erfahren, hat sich André erbarmt, um mit mir ganz weit zurück an die Anfänge des Godzilla-Mythos zu reisen. Und ja, der Trip hat sich allemal gelohnt. Godzilla (1954) kommt so frisch, actionreich und politisch pointiert daher, dass man ihm seine 70 Jahre kaum anmerkt. Selbiges kann man von Godzilla kehrt zurück (1955) leider nicht behaupten, wobei auch dieses Schnellschuss-Sequel ein paar kleine Freuden bietet.
