BEFORE

I've been in the music biz for so long by now that sometimes I'm astonished to remember all the changes that have happpened along the way. For about 20 years, long before I started on a serious path as a multi-instrumentalist/composer/recording artist, I was working constantly as a lead singer, which is what most people knew me for. Beginning in Montreal in the early 70's and on through the early 90's all over New England, I sang lead for a number of ensembles, in the company of some very talented colleagues, playing high energy funk, rock, pop-soul, R&B, jazz-rock fusion, and other genres not easily defined. I have many great memories of that time long ago when life was simpler, and I was simply a singer/musician. "Before" is my way of paying homage to those days, and all the crazy, beautiful, wonderful musicians I spent so much time playing with...laughing, crying, sweating, working, and giving our hearts and souls day and night to make music to lift people up. As the song goes, we'll never have it like we did before...
