Best and Worst of 2025 (Top 10)

A curious year was 2025. And I refer not to the Twelve-Day War, nor the ugly terror of AI, nor the dances with Putin, nor the new pope, nor Tariffgate, nor 6-7. No, I’m talking about the essence of being itself that outstays the transience of things that happen, the buttress of the substance of why to bother. I’m talking about film and television. 2025 was arguably television’s finest hour since the last very fine hour, which was quite a few hours ago. But as well as offering up some of the most superlative works for years, art dropped too a dud or two. Galling duds or twos. So here, Jordan and I (Sam) scale the heights of our appreciation and the summit of our scorn as we present you with our 10 favourites and 10 hateourites from last year (respectively, obviously, lest you think us fools), small screen and silver screen combined.
