Best Intentions25-1

We gather here today With our best intentions We drink from the cup That’s strapped to our belt Through back our heads and say Darling come back to me now Come back and lie down beside me The river is over it’s banks The leaves are off the trees If your heart is worn Here is my melody I am the song Not the singer Out in the desert To watch the sunset The younger you the younger me I walked past the card reader She pulled me right in She told me to buy her some smokes She laid out the cards in a square as I watched I asked her what she could see She brings birds to the feeder I watched her dance With a version of me Out in the desert Walk one more time The younger you and the younger me Now we’re standing with the stars This will be a memory Like Children Like children Darling come back to me now Come back and lie down beside me I can’t dance this dance without you
