Words of the Day describes a game from last weekend: 1. Unexpected- Notre Dame’s complete routing of USC. I just thought they were better than that on Offense. To allow Notre Dame to put up 48 points is one thing, to only put up 20 points with the “best” QB in the country? 2. Damn- sad to see Brock Bowers go out with an ankle injury. Probably done for most of the regular season. 3. Told you so- graham Mertz is the right guy at Florida at the QB position. Comfortable in the pocket. Quick to get out and move when needed, still comfortable on the run. 1900 yards passing 12 TD’s. If he stays around 1-2 more years, we are looking good with such a young team in Gainesville. 4. Beast mode- gotta say Stanford in the second half against Colorado. What a complete and utter debacle in Colorado Springs last a Thursday. Stanford looked like a high school team in the first half. Missed pass after missed pass. Something happened in that locker room at halftime, cause a different team came out for the second half. 5. Bar Room Brawl?- Florida vs Carolina game. It had me stressed out the entire game. Florida scores on the opening drive fairly easily, then Spenser Rattler throws up a couple of those deadly accurate passes he does, and boom 7 points on Carolina’s first drive. This 1 for 1 seemed to keep up till the 4th quarter with 9 minutes left, Carolina goes up by 10, and I thought it was over. Games of the Week: 1. #7 Penn State at #3 Ohio State- Ryan Day vs James Franklin If there’s a game for Ohio State to lose the season as this one. Penn State is all around solid with this season. They have depth at defense that will last all four quarters. A solid offense, that can both pass and run the ball. On the other hand, Ohio State has show they can wear down an opponent, offensively they are not even in the top 25, but they do what it takes in the second half every week to win. #17 Tennessee at #11 Alabama : Listener Will Farrell said he has so much confidence in Tennessee, that if Alabama wins, he’ll buy us a round of beer! I’m not as confident in Tennessee as he is. South Carolina at #20 Mizzu- upset in the making? 4. #13 ole Miss at Auburn- The other upset for the week. At Auburn, war eagle flying high? Will there be TP in the trees of Toomer’s Cormer? 16 Duke at #4 FSU- Duke has had one hell of a run this season. If they were playing in Durham I would say Duke stands a chance, but Tallahassee has some pent up energy from years and years of watching a sucky team play every week. That stadium is going to be on fire with the war chant on Saturday. 14 Utah at #18 USC- I feel sorry for Utah right now because this is a USC team that has something to prove. People are voting at Lincoln Riley as a coach, but this guy knows what he’s doing. Last Call!!! Are any coaches on the hot seat right now? Shane Beamer? Nope. It seems to me that the last 6 years has seen so much turn over, that some of these coaches should be allowed to stay put, let these cards fall like NIL, transfer portal, and the new conference alignment. If they give it a few years, any good coachshould be able to begin competing.
