On the evening of Saturday November 13, 2021, while Kendra was overseas with the Black Ferns, her sister and brother-in-law in Taranaki were dealing with the tragic news that their 18-year-old son, Jordy had drowned in the Waiwhakaiho River.Speaking to media at the time about her sons passing, Kendras sister Nic said:“He was just one of a kind. He was so loveable, so witty. Life without him is going to be dim. We still are broken, and we will be for a long time.
