Black Sabbath | Named Themselves After Their Own Song
from Satan is my Superhero Hosted by Judas Falling
Heavy metal exists because one guy lost his fingertips, one guy couldn't play bass, and nobody had the guts to fire the other two. Turns out heavy metal wasn't invented so much as stumbled into by four blokes from Birmingham who couldn't commit to a band name, couldn't play their instruments properly, and accidentally terrified an entire generation of parents along the way. We trace Black Sabbath from the truly cursed Polka Tulk Blues Band through a forgettable stint as Earth, all the way to naming themselves after their own song because nobody could think of anything better. Along the way: a guitarist who lost his fingertips and reinvented the instrument out of spite, a bassist who just copied the guitar parts, and a singer whose "unique" voice would get him escorted out of any other genre. We get into the tritone, the album cover model's journey from flower child to anti-vax astrologer, and the time Rolling Stone hated this record so much it's almost impressive. Expect skepticism, religious satire, and a borderline emotional appreciation for a band that succeeded entirely by accident. Fully scripted. Heavily produced. Featuring Satan critiquing genre debates and a very confused choir of angels. PATREON Fully scripted comedy doesn't fund itself, and unlike Black Sabbath, we didn't stumble into success by accident.
