Blanton's Gold Edition Single Barrel Bourbon

Episode 23: Blanton's Gold Edition Single Barrel Bourbon Blanton's Gold Edition is a highly sought-after bourbon produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery that became available as a limited release in the United States in 2020. Launched in the 1980s, this premium bourbon is an extension of the original Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon, which is recognized as one of the first modern single barrel bourbons in the world. Blanton's Gold differentiates itself from its counterparts with a higher proof and a unique blend of sweet, rich flavors that appeal to both bourbon enthusiasts and newcomers alike. The production process of Blanton's Gold is meticulous and traditional, adhering to the high standards set by Colonel Albert Blanton, the man behind the bourbon. Made from a mash bill that includes corn, rye, and malted barley, it undergoes sour mash fermentation and is aged in new charred American oak barrels. The aging process typically occurs in the center of the warehouse, where temperature fluctuations result in a more complex interaction between the spirit and the wood. This commitment to quality results in a bourbon with a deep amber color and a nose filled with notes of caramel, vanilla, and baking spices. On the palate, Blanton's Gold offers a symphony of flavors, including dried fruits, honey, and toasted oak, along with a hint of spice. Its higher proof gives it a bold finish, making it incredibly satisfying for those who enjoy a robust bourbon experience. The exclusivity and limited availability of Blanton's Gold contribute to its status as a collectible item among bourbon aficionados. Whether enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as part of a classic cocktail, Blanton's Gold represents a pinnacle of craftsmanship and a tribute to the storied heritage of American whiskey.
