BONUS: Discussing the Stigma of a Disability Label w/ Carolyn Sophia Skowron

from Eat. Explore. Love. The Podcast! · host Leigh Francis

This week I am speaking with advocate and author, Carolyn Sophia Skowron. After being diagnosed with a non-verbal learning disability, Carolyn has conquered the stigma of the label of having a disability. Her book, “unbreakable” takes a deep dive into her journey of overcoming obstacles and becoming the woman she is today through her public speaking engagements. I felt it was important to have this discussion during Celiac Disease Awareness Month, as Celiac Disease is a disability. It’s incredibly difficult to wrap your head around what that means, so it was helpful to have this discussion with Carolyn! https://www.carolynsophia.com/ https://www.carolynsophia.com/unbreakable Please join me on my journey of self-exploration as I travel through the world. For more information on the different cities we talk about, check out the blog posts on eatexplorelove.com posted every Monday, Wednesday and Friday on the website. On Monday’s you can find different places where you can find gluten free food. Wednesdays, there are recommendations for places you can explore in the city. Fridays, are all about the lessons learned along the way. This podcast delves a little deeper into that lesson.
