Send us Fan MailIn this episode of the Sunbeam Chats Podcast, we are talking about books, book publishing, travel, seizing opportunities in your career, life and so much more. Latoyaa Roberts Thomas is a dynamic Creative and Social Entrepreneur, she is the Managing Consultant at LRT’s Media and Business Solutions and the Co-Founder of Cuero Designs, She is the Founder and Editor at Books by LR, a hybrid publishing agency, where she champions Caribbean storytelling by supporting emerging Authors and producing culturally rich children’s literature that celebrates identity, wellness, and imagination.In this conversation, Latoyaa shares her story about living and studying in Trinidad and Tobago, her first job in Japan and subsequent studies in Europe and in the Caribbean. We track her career in Communications and other sectors over the years, which led to her to eventually start her own company.  She spoke about her Social Entrepreneurial pursuits and what inspired her first book, which led to her starting the book publishing company.  We talk about her book The Tide Reclaims and Latoyaa shares what is involved in publishing books, an end to end process her company offers. Latoyaa spoke about her fashion company Cuero Designs, which came to be from one of her trips to Ecuador; she also spoke about their hotel Shannon 360 in Ecuador and a bit about the beauty of the Country. When asked about her life, Latoyaa said it is normal; which shows her world view and the lived experience of a woman who pioneers and pursues paths unknown. She is fearless on a path of continuous learning and seizes opportunities in the moment. Today, Latoyaa has built a life shaped beyond the shores of a "small island" but is grounded by the roots of her homeland. Her mantra is “live local, think global”.
