I will examine these passages and several others to determine the true meaning of being “born again”. We must understand the context of John chapter 3. Who is speaking, who is the intended audience and what is the setting? Answering these three questions starts our analysis in the proper context to determine the truth. Starting from a misconception or a false premise will always lead to error and confusion. For example, if you erroneously assume that Jesus was speaking to the church, then your conclusions will be in error. You naturally will assume that being born again applies to you.
