Los investigadores de la Universidad de California, Jun-Hyeong Cho, profesor asistente de biología celular, molecular y de sistemas y su estudiante de post doctorado Woong Bim Kim, están dedicados a desarrollar un método que les permita de forma selectiva borrar recuerdos particulares de miedos, preservando los que no se relacionan con eventos de ese tipo. Y lo hacen debilitando las sinapsis establecidas en el primer caso. Los autores sugieren que su método se puede adaptar a otras investigaciones como el "aprendizaje por recompensa", algo que sería de mucha utilidad en el manejo y el tratamiento de comportamientos adictivos.
