Learn more here: https://bit.ly/bradley-cooper-caregiving-crisis  Bradley Cooper, whose father died of cancer, became aware of the difficulties of home caregiving and recognized the crisis that exists in homecare today. Our population is aging, dementia is on the rise, and the availability of high quality home caregivers is scarce due to low pay and benefits.  This leaves the burden of home caregiving to families, and unprepared family members navigate the medical crises and surprises with little training, guidance or support.  Bradley Cooper is executive producer on the new documentary "Caregiving" airing on PBS, touching stories from a broad variety of family members who are braving the trials and joys of caregiving at home.  Our Guest, Jessica Guthrie, at the age of 26, began taking care of her mother who suffered dementia in her 60's. She moved home, managed remote work, and figured out the ins and outs of her mother's care. To conquer her loneliness and lack of support, she created a support group which is now worldwide.  Also our Guest, Debra Barrett, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at Otsuka. Her company has a model program of supporting employees who must balance home care with work, providing time off, benefits, and home care navigators who share valuable resources. Debra advocates for employers to recognize the crisis and create policies which support our 45 million Americans providing homecare for loved ones.   If you're enjoying the Show, it would mean the world to us if you took a second to leave a five star review on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, or Spotify, or wherever you're listening to us.
