'Breast Cancer' and 'Resilient Children'

from The Kathryn Zox Show · host Kathryn Zox

Kathryn interviews breast cancer survivor Laura Holmes Haddad, author of "This is Cancer: Everything You Need to Know, From the Waiting Room to the Bedroom". When Haddad was 37 years old, she was diagnosed with Stage IV inflammatory breast cancer. Through her three-year treatment journey she realized that there was so much more to a cancer diagnosis than the medical "stuff". This is Cancer is the thoughtful and entertaining result of her journey. Kathryn also interviews psychologist Kate Lund PsyD, author of "Bounce: Help Your Child Build Resilience and Thrive in School, Sports and Life". It seems that every day, a new story comes out about a child who committed or attempted suicide because of the relentless onslaught of cruelty from their peers. Dr. Lund shares what teachers and parents can do to help children realize their potential by using a strengths-based approach to working with students and athletes.
