Breath & Cookies

When my kids were littleWe did a little meditation at nightBreathing in ingredients: milk, flour, sugarHolding to mixBreathing out cookiesIt was sweetI wanted them to knowThat our breath is our signature in the worldWhat we take in and what we do with itHow we process what we receiveAnd how having been in our care transforms itAnd sends it out to the worldIt was simplistic, and flawed in many waysBut really important in my frame of beliefThe world shapes us and we shape the worldAnd so creation createsThe exchange of energy shapes all life on earthI have not spoken of nature nearly enough in this writingNot just earth, flora and fauna (but definitely that)EverythingThe space in the roomThe person I’m looking atWe’re all becoming togetherAnd energy is being exchangedMeaningful, multidimensional intelligenceThat’s why forests feel so goodCascading relationshipsAt the most intimate levelI love the Perelandra Center for Nature ResearchAmong other wonderful things, they talk aboutHumans thinking gardens are expressions of natureNature thinking gardens are expressions of humansMakes me smileThe interplay of becomingIs shaping all of us - everything is includedHow we interact with life in every aspectIs our becomingIs a relational orientationDefensiveness dilutes itCuriosity fuels itIt feels more than it thinksNatural anchors for me as I become?My dogMy plantsBike rides by the riverTrees (in general and a few specifically)Flower essencesMy root chakra, sensing connectednessInto this foundationMy breath comesIt nourishes me and mixes in with my cellsAnd it sings back out to the worldExactly what is happening in meMost of the folks in our culture can’t decipher itBut the trees canAll kinds of sentience is processing our exhale in myriad waysConnection is literalWe are shaping each other - all of life - fresh in each momentI want my breath to bless the worldMy inhalation an act of gratitude for the infinite gifts I’m receiving in each breath from all the beings of the worldMy exhalation, my creativity, my expression, my appreciationWhen those molecules came through me, they were lovedAnd now i release themLife brings the ingredientsI offer cookies This is a public episode.
