BRING IT ALL DOWN
from Roger E. · host Roger E.
Over the span of a lifetime of music making, my continuous quest for creative inspiration has led me down many roads...each of the families of instruments I play has exposed me to a world of influences. Learning and playing keyboards, wind instruments, and percussion has given me a broad perspective, fueling my interest in many disparate and sometimes fairly exotic styles of Jazz and World music. As a vocalist however, I sometimes feel like another artist altogether. I still am drawn to the more popular, more easily defined genres that got me started professionally and kept me working for years. Actually, it was my experience and reputation as a singer that served as my entry point to Jazz, though the portal of Jazz really opened up for me years later. As a result, my vocal recordings often sound like the work of a completely different artist than the Roger Ebacher who Jazz fans might know. This hopefully explains why my latest recording is a retro smooth pop-soul vocal number. Not really breaking any new ground here, just creating with a genre still a part of my musical DNA. I love singing this kind of stuff, and don't mind playing flute and keys with it either! This too is me, and I hope you enjoy it...
