It is a joy to be coming in your way. We are in a new series called Who, Walk, Not, After the Flash. On our last program, we looked at that carefully, that we are three part being spirit, soul and body. And we are to walk after the spirit man, where the Spirit of God lives.
We all know that's not always easy when we're dealing with feelings and emotions and things that go around us. Sometimes it's hard to respond in the correct manner. But there are some things I want us to look at in this series. So I just want you to get your Bible.
We're going to be looking at some scripture in a few moments. But before we get into the good Word of God, I want you to listen to these things that God has laid upon Shontai's heart and she'll share them with you. Amen. Hello, I'm Shontai Hoffman.
There was no greater love than the love from our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ. We know in John 3 16 says, for God so loved the world that He gave His only son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. In verse 17, it says that God did not come to condemn the world, but to come to love us and to give His life for us. We know in Romans in chapter 10 and verse 9, it says that if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord.
And believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. You will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess that you are saved. God wants you to give your life to Him today.
He loves you so much. And there is nothing like knowing Jesus Christ as your Lord. He will give you that peace and that joy in your heart that you need. And it promises us that He will give us eternal life.
And we know in Ephesians, it says Ephesians chapter 2 and verse 8, for it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not from yourself. It is the gift of God. It's nothing that we can do in ourself and who we are.
But this is a gift that God has given to us, that we can have eternal life. And it's by His grace and His love. Please pray a prayer with me today and ask Jesus to be your Lord and to be your Savior. Father, we come to you in Jesus' name.
And Father, I come and I ask you to be my Lord, to be my Savior. I ask you to cleanse me and purify me from all sin. I ask you to forgive me for anything all that I have done. And Lord, I ask you to come into my heart to be my Lord and to be my Savior.
In Jesus' holy name, amen. We'll praise the Lord. We know in verse 13 of Romans 9, it says, Call upon the Lord. And you will be saved.
So as you have called upon the Lord today, I believe that you have received Jesus and you have been saved and that you will spend eternity in heaven with me. We'll praise the Lord. Please call or write to us and let us know what God has done for you today. Thank you.
Praise the Lord. I trust that you listened carefully to those words. And if you're needing to pray about those things that you did so, maybe you didn't and you wished you had. Well, I want you to know that you can always contact us.
They bring you to light.org. We would be glad to pray with you. And if you're needing to ask Jesus into your heart, you want to come back the Lord and you're confused about a lot of these things, we even have materials that we believe would benefit you. So don't hesitate in asking for help.
If you try to walk this out by yourself, there's always somebody that God will use to minister to you what you have need of, amen. So the name of the series, who walk not after the flesh. Again, as we've already said, there are times that we all have feelings and emotions. I don't know about you and I'd like to say, oh, I don't have a problem with that.
But if you have been driving down the interstate, I mean, you're doing a good speed, you're being safe and you're minding, you're on business, but here comes somebody and they're just right on you. And I mean, you look up and you know, if you barely touch your brakes, they're going to plow into you. And then what do they do? They turn that steering wheel back into the left lane and then before you know, they're turning it back in and I'm looking and I think that was inches.
You know, they could have hit me. Well, I'm not going to say to you today, well, you know, God bless you, you know, and I'm going to go down my highway just smiling and praise the Lord. I'm sorry. My flesh can quickly get stirred up and maybe you've got all of that accomplished and you can control yourself.
I'm still working on that. And sometimes I'll just pray in my prayer language so that I don't use this tongue to say things that is not very kind. And usually what I'm learning to do is say, Lord, I forgive them that God protect, Lord, anybody that may endanger their lives by this reckless driving and then I will pray in the spirit. But yeah, my flesh can get angry and agitated.
I think sometimes we look at other people and you know, maybe they've been in the ministry a long time like I have and you know, they do certain things with like, wow, you know, they just must walk with God in such a powerful way every day. Let me tell you, there is all of us who deal with the flesh. I think sometimes more of us can control the flesh than others. Yes, but there are many times that we can get angry and we can get frustrated and when I sense that coming to me, what I try to do is to pull away from whatever the environment is that's causing the anger because in those heated moments, you can, yes, continue in the flesh and say things that you wish that you hadn't said and you know, when you speak words, those words are not something you can say, oh, I want to take those back.
When you say it and somebody hears it, words have a way to damage words have a way of landing on a heart and it can continue to cause large issues and troubles in a relationship. So I'll generally pull away and I've done that in many occasions. I go somewhere where nobody was around and I would talk to God about and I may just really be saying, Lord, that doesn't make me so upset or angry or whatever. You know, God's okay with that.
You know, he much rather you come and tell him what's going on, but then acknowledge him in that God. I need you to help me with this. I realize my flesh was all roused up and in the natural, I might have every right to be upset about something that said or done. I don't mind saying that sometimes when I'm counseling with somebody and I hear about the abuse that someone has gone through in a situation and you know how they're still coming around and just saying things and doing things that's so evil or I'll hear about some of the judges and I hate to say this, but it's true.
Some of the judges that will side with evil in a hearing, I hear that, I hear it too much and I'm a flesh begins to rise up. Now let me say this, there is a righteous indignation. You know, let's look at Jesus for a minute right here. You know, when Jesus walked into the den of thieves, he called it and you know, they're selling their, the very offerings and they're selling them way too high and they're have a money exchange.
I don't know if you've ever studied all of that, but the money exchanged calls somebody to have to pay more money because they would not allow just any monies to purchase the very offerings that they would make. So Jesus saw the injustice and how that they were taken advantage of the moment. Jesus said, you are not going to make this a den of thieves. I had to create that my God has said this is a house of prayer.
Now let me tell you something. Jesus didn't just move out on his anger. You say, well, he wasn't angry. I beg your pardon.
Jesus was angry, but he was angry and he sinned not. There is a huge difference. Jesus never sinned. He never came short of the glory of the Father.
But you know, rather than stepping out in the emotion at the moment, Jesus went to the side and he made himself a little scourge or a small short whip. Now I've watched my grandfather take leather straps and I'd see him attach it to a handle. And I mean, he would get that leather as tight as it could be, but it would be a great long whip. And then he could make that thing smack and snap.
And I mean, it was just amazing to hurt your ears when he would use it. You know, I don't know how long it took Jesus to make his whip, but somehow the materials was there to the side. And I've often wondered, you know, Jesus is so upset over what he has seen in what's supposed to be the house of prayer, the temple, but yet he goes to the side. He pulls himself apart and he makes a whip.
What's he doing? I personally think that Jesus was commuting with a father. He knew that the father didn't like what was going on. I mean, Jesus listened to the father.
He prayed. He interceded and he is our example of looking at Jesus's life and knowing, yes, he was ever a big God, but Jesus was every big man, anointed by the Spirit of God. So we can learn from him. A lot of people say, yeah, but Jesus was God.
You know, I can't do this. And I, whoa, whoa, what Jesus did he operated as a man. So we can learn from him. So Jesus makes this whip.
He, I believe he's talking to God. I think he said, I want to do this right. I am going to let them know what I feel about this, but I want to do it in the right way. Then he stands up and man, let me tell you, here he goes.
He is knocking over the tables. He's using his law scourge to wipe the monies off of those tables and the people go running. So let me tell you, if Jesus had been just walking around, they would have kept their place, but Jesus was angry, but he controlled his flesh. Do you hear me today?
So we can be angry, but that's the reason I try to pull away when I'm angry and I'm communing with God and I don't come out of that place until I feel I have to do my flesh and that I can walk in the spirit. They are true. Sometimes it needs to be told and this is what I'm praying about right now. There are things that need to be said and I, with God's help, I will say them, but I want to make sure that I stay in the spirit and I don't allow myself to move in the flesh with my anger and say things that is going to be detrimental to me and destroy relationships.
It may be that you need to speak with somebody, may be at church, but may be on your job, maybe for some of you at school or in another environment, sometimes it's family. I counsel people sometimes. We don't know what to do about speaking to the family about this. We don't know if we should.
There are so many emotions involved. We definitely want to hear from the Lord and I will say that, but I think prayer and fasting, seeking God about those things before we step into confrontation, if you will, about issues out of the past or even the present. So it is important to know that we can walk after the spirit and it's important, but I want to say again, all of us deal with the flesh. Do you hear me today?
We all deal with the flesh, but it's crucifying the flesh. What did Paul say? He said, I die daily. Well, we know he physically didn't die every day, but he knew the importance of crucifying his feelings and his emotions that would try to rise up.
That was contrary to what God was saying and what God was doing. Wisdom is to know how to take the knowledge of God and to be able to use that by the leading of the Holy Spirit, that it comes across in holiness and in righteousness. And a lot of people, they may have a lot of knowledge, but if they move into the flesh and they begin again to say and do things that is hurtful, it's condescending to another person. And as I shared with you in our last program, when I felt that these people should not be begging me for money, I didn't say a word to them, but I did not acknowledge them when they were calling out to me.
And when God spoke to my heart, you disrespected someone I died for, but Lord, I didn't say anything, but I didn't acknowledge them. We'll see the Lord dealt with me about that. I had to repent of that. My flesh was just saying, I want to away from them.
I don't want them to be talking to me. I don't want them to be begging me for money. You see, and let me just say this about that. In our city, I don't know about yours, but it seems like there's people on every corner asking for money.
And some of them may be legitimate needs, but a lot of them is a learned lifestyle. You know, I've even heard some of them say, you know, it is a challenge or a goal to see who can get the most money in one day. Well, you know, I can't judge anybody's heart, but at the same time, I want to be a good steward over what God has given to me. I know one day we saw somebody with a sign and they said, we'll work for food.
And my husband pulled over and I think, oh, Robert, what are you doing? And he said, when it's OK? And so they run to the window and they're expecting money. And he said, I really do have some things in my yard.
He said, I could use some help. Do you want to help me? And they looked at him and their whole countenance changed. And they said, well, I'm sorry.
I can't right now. And he said, but your son said you would work for a food. Well, I can't right now. So there are times that we're going to have to be sensitive to what the Lord is saying and what he is doing.
So I'm not here today to say we do give or we don't give. You'll have to be led by the Holy Spirit in that. But we surely see those in the Word of God that were begging. And there were those that they administered to them by giving and assisting them.
But I love the spiritual part when they came to give them Jesus. Aren't you? What greater gifts could you give to anybody like giving to them Jesus? So we saw that some people are hindered in life through shame and condemnation and guilt.
And that again is an avenue whereby the enemy would try to work to hinder us because you know again, if I'm called about to do something, let's just say in my case, I counsel a council two days a week and I'm going to go into counseling today, but an event took place and maybe I didn't handle it correctly. And I know I was wrong. And now before God, I feel guilty. So I think, wow, you know, I don't feel like I can really counsel today like I'm supposed to.
Now, I want you to listen to my belief. The belief is what is so powerful and what we're talking about today. I believe that I can't do what God's called me to do because I feel guilty. So I either pull back or I go ahead and try to make it happen with no confidence before God or confidence that he could ever use me to minister to them.
Well, you see, I have allowed guilt to come in and to hinder me from what God's called me to do. There are things that we can do when guilt is knocking on our door. When I sense something like that going on, guilt comes over something I did yesterday. I am just going to pause right then and say, Lord Jesus, you know, right now I am sensing guilt in my life.
And Lord, I ask you yesterday to forgive me for that event. And now Lord, you've called me to do this right here. And Lord, guilt is not your will for me. If I repent of it, Lord, I should have no guilt because I am forgiven.
Now, I'll tell you what I do. Sometimes I'll take my Bible and I'll turn over there to 1 chapter 1 verse 9 and I'll hold my Bible up and I'll say, Lord, look here, what you said. You said in your word that if I would confess it to you, Jesus, that you would forgive me and cleanse me from all and righteousness. And Lord, I take you at your word because I have already repented of that.
I am forgiven. Now, if I believe that then there should be no more guilt. Now, the enemy is still trying to work in that. I say, you found him in a hell trying to come and bring guilt to my heart into my life.
I resist you. You're a liar and you have no place in me in Jesus name. I am forgiven. And I want you to know that devil is going to tuck his tail and he's going to flee when you resist him.
Don't let him get away with his knocking on your heart's door over and over bringing up things of your past or even yesterday's past with the guilt that tries to come our way. We know that the verb for guilt is the attempt to make someone feel ashamed. I think sometimes parents have to be really careful with this when they are wanting to get caused into field guilt about something. You know, it's like last week you did this and this and this and they're reminding them of something of their past when they have already been disciplined in that area.
Aren't you glad that we serve a mighty God that when we repent that he chooses to forget it? He doesn't say do you remember that sin that you committed 20 years ago or five years ago? He never brings it up. If it's brought up, it's going to be brought up by the devils that want to come and bring the guilt or it's going to come through an individual.
Sometimes something can remind us of something of our past maybe you're watching a movie, maybe just a clean movie, but something happens in the movie and it stirs the guilt of that same type thing that happened in your life. It can come through many ways. But I want to say again, if you've confessed it as sin to Jesus, he is forgiving you and he has forgotten it. We then are going to have with God's help forgive ourselves.
Don't let guilt hold you. So back to the parents. Parents, I encourage you if you've already disciplined that child for that particular thing, don't bring it up anymore. Now, if they do it again, obviously we're going to deal with that particular thing at the moment, but let's let the past be the past.
Amen. So with that said, in Isaiah 54 and verse four, the amplified Bible, it says do not fear for you will not be put to shame and do not feel humiliated or ashamed for you will not be disgraced. Now, we've looked at the word. We'll look at it more, but the word of guilt, but the word also of shame.
Do you ever just feel shame about something shame maybe for the senior committed last week? You've repented of it, but you still deal with shame. Just I am so ashamed that I did that. Who do I think I am to come to the house of the Lord and lift my hands in praise and worship?
Who do I think I am to be on the door, maybe greeting people at the church? Who do I think I am to be working a job and to share Jesus around me or to play my Christian music? The enemy wants to bind us up with guilt, with shame and with condemnation. Notice the scripture again.
Do not fear for you will not be put to shame and do not feel humiliated or ashamed for you will not be disgraced. We serve a good God, a loving God, a God who is for us, a God who is not here to condemn us. I know I counsel a lot of people that deal where there has been parents who put them to shame. They still attempt to put them to shame and it leaves them in a heartbroken place.
It can be very difficult. I could talk a long time about the importance of parents affirming their children and not using these very tactics that the w that the devil tries to do against the people of God is to bring in the shame, the condemnation and the guilt. But the scripture says don't fear. Don't allow yourself to be put to shame.
If you've repented of it, then God has forgiven you and whatever the past was, even if it's something that you did that was probably a horrible thing. Don't allow shame to hold you in this. I've said this before. I want to say it right now.
I want you to please listen to me. If you've repented, but you are still dealing with shame about something that happened, maybe something again that you have done and you know you've asked God to forgive you and maybe you've even gone to the people that you hurt or you came against them in some way that you still cannot forgive yourself. I want to encourage you again, go to somebody that calls himself a Christian that is filled with the spirit that knows the word that you can tell them your past. I'm going to quickly share the story.
I had a lady that made an appointment with me and so when she came in, I could see that she wasn't a young woman and she began to tell me I'm in my 70s and she said, I'm just having a hard time and that's what's going on. She said, all my life, I have just felt such shame and guilt and such condemnation. It seems like I never have any peace in my heart. I said, your whole life and she said my whole life and I said, you know why?
She began to cry and she couldn't raise her eyes to look at me and I called her by name. I said, it's okay. I love you and I am here and I am not going to bring any condemnation to you. She started sharing with me that she had been raped as a young girl.
She never told her parents. She never told a friend. She never told anybody at the church wide because of the shame of it. She lived a life of shame and guilt and condemnation because the enemy had her in the bondage of something that had been done to her and that she had not even committed.
But I want you to know when she confessed it to me, we should look at scripture together. We prayed. We came against those evil spirits that have been working against her and I want you to know she raised her hands and she said, I am free in Jesus name. God made her free.
Are you at bondage today? That's not God's will for you. I encourage you, go to somebody that you can share your story and be free from the events of yesterday. What a joy it's been to minister to you today.
Till next time they bless you and I love you. I love you all. Hello. I am Shante Hoffman.
Are you in an area in your life where you need a healing or a touch from the Lord? God wants to touch your body or to just even touch you emotionally and give you his peace that passes all understanding. We know that the Bible gives us many promises of God's healing power and Isaiah 53 in verse 4, it says, Surely he had born our griefs and carried our sorrows yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God and flipped it, but he was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities.
The chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed. I believe that God wants to touch you today in a mighty way. We believe in God's word and in his promises and I feel that we can just hold fast to his promises every day and to speak his word. I know that when my little boy was sick that I just spoke the word over him and I said, Micah, you will live and not die and you will declare the words to the Lord.
And I know that the word says that Jesus, he sent his word and Jesus is the word. God sent his word to heal all of us from our sicknesses and diseases. Can I pray with you today that God will touch your body wherever you are? The promise says that he will bring us peace and it says that God even bore the grief and the sorrow that you may have today that God wants to touch you mentally, physically, spiritually and every way.
Let's pray Father, we just come to you Lord in the precious name of Jesus. And Father, I thank you for my brother and my sister today. Father, wherever they are God, you know their need. And Father, I'm asking of you to touch their bodies.
Lord, administer peace and joy and strength to their hearts today. Father, I thank you for our healing and their bodies that we can just hold fast to your promises that by Jesus drops we are healed and we are whole. And Father, we thank you for your healing and my brother and sister today. Father, just touch their bodies by your power and by your might.
And Father, we thank you for it that they are healed and they are whole in Jesus' holy name. Amen. We'll praise God. Please write to us their call and let us know what God has done for you today.
And I'm believing and I stand fast in prayer for your healing and from a touch from the Lord. Amen.
