Bristol City ended their pre-season on a high with a confident 2–0 win over Newcastle United on August 31st. Ella Powell opened the scoring with a rocket into the roof of the net from the edge of the box. Maria Farrugia doubled the lead with a classy first-time finish after a pinpoint cross from Rio Hardy.Hardy nearly added a third before halftime, rattling the crossbar. City dominated possession and limited Newcastle to just a few half-chances. Fran Bentley made a key save to deny Molly Pike late on. Charlotte Healy fielded six new signings and rotated heavily in the second half, giving minutes to youth and trialists.
