Building a Healthier Home: How to Create a Safe Living Environment

from Building With BuildHer · host BuildHer Collective

Before we leave the house each morning, we expose ourselves to an average of 20 different products just getting ready for the day. Unless you’ve mindfully chosen these products they likely have a slew of toxins that will build up in your body.  Everything in our lives has the potential to hurt us with harmful chemicals and toxins - from what we eat and drink, to what we clean with, to our furniture, and yes even what we build our houses with.  Joining us today is the incredible Michelle Deiner, professional building biologist, to explain how you can keep your home and your body as healthy as possible. As a building biologist, Michelle's main role is to assess homes and identify toxins that may be contributing to poor health. She emphasises the importance of awareness and education in creating a healthier home.If you're not aware of what might be negatively impacting your health, there's no way you can fix it. In this conversation Michelle shares her expertise on the toxins that can be found in our homes and provides eight areas we should consider. We explore some of the most dangerous options you can choose when building and furnishing your home, plus the healthy alternatives. We also dive into the value & cost of investing in air purifiers and water filtration systems.  Whether you’re building, renovating, or living in your dream home for the long term, today’s episode has crucial information for all of us to create a safe living environment.   LINKS: Buy our book: BuildHer, A practical guide to building and renovating BuildHer Website: https://buildhercollective.com.au/ BuildHer Instagram: @buildhercollective BuildHer Facebook: Women who Design, Decorate, Renovate & Build Register for a call: https://go.oncehub.com/BuildHer See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
