Built from a parent’s promise | Purpose, product integrity & family health | Suthan Naganayagam

from Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO

In this episode of the Bee Formless™ Flow Driven CEO Podcast, I connected with Suthan Naganayagam, Co-Founder and CEO of Niki’s Natural Wipes and Niki’s Active, to explore family health, product integrity, entrepreneurship and what happens when a lived experience becomes the foundation for a purpose-led business.Suthan and his wife, Dirka, began their start up journey in hospital when their newborn son, Nikesh, experienced a serious infection after his delicate skin became irritated and exposed. What followed was a personal mission to understand the everyday products touching their child’s skin and to create something safer, gentler and more trustworthy for families.I loved how much conviction is behind the business. Again and again, Suthan and Dirka were told to make the product cheaper, simpler and more like everything else in the market and they refused to compromise.Because, this was never only about creating another baby wipe. It was about reducing one more preventable worry for parents, using natural ingredients with purpose and proving that a business can grow without sacrificing the very reason it exists. We spoke about Manuka honey essence, coconut oil, product formulation, skin sensitivity, parental anxiety, customer trust and the unseen sacrifices behind building a brand with integrity. Suthan also shared the reality of surviving COVID as a small business, selling assets to keep the company alive, living on baked beans and toast while making sure the children were fed, and continuing because customers kept showing them the product mattered. When everything seemed to be working against them, Suthan kept returning to one piece of advice from his mum: “Don’t worry about money. You drive the purpose and the money will come.”THE SHAPE SHIFT IN MOTIONAt the heart of this conversation was a shift from solving one family’s pain to reshaping the standard of care for many. This is how that shift unfolded through the Bee Formless™ methodology.LEARN (LETTING GO)✨ The belief that business growth requires compromise.✨ The assumption that parents should accept “good enough” in everyday family products.✨ The idea that shortcuts are necessary to compete.UNLEARN (CREATE, REIMAGINE & RESHAPE)✨ Reimagine product integrity as a non-negotiable.✨ Create from lived experience, not market convenience.✨ Build trust by staying close to the problem you set out to solve.RELEARN (TEST & IMPLEMENT)✨ Let purpose guide product decisions.✨ Listen deeply to the families using what you create.✨ Keep improving without diluting the integrity of the original mission.ACTIVE RECOVERY (REFLECT & RESET)✨ Where are you being asked to compromise on what matters?✨ What lived experience could become a deeper standard of care?✨ How would your business change if purpose led the decision-making?🔗 https://www.linkedin.com/in/suthan-naganayagam-22197422/🌿 https://nikis.com/💭 How would your business change if compromise was no longer the cost of growth? If something is shifting in your business, leadership or growth journey, start with a Strategic Shape Shift Diagnostic:https://calendly.com/beeformless/strategicshapeshiftdiagnostic#beeformless #flowdrivenceo #nikisnaturalwipes #nikisactive #purpose #founderstory #familyhealth #integrity #startup
