Can a narcissist also be an empath? Narcissistic Abuse Recovery FAQ According to psychologist Stephen Johnson, a narcissist is someone who has "buried his true self-expression in response to early injuries and replaced it with a highly developed, compensatory false self." And, according to Dr. Judith Orloff, empaths are "highly sensitive, finely tuned instruments when it comes to emotions. They feel everything, sometimes to an extreme, and are less apt to intellectualize feelings. Intuition is the filter through which they experience the world. Empaths are naturally giving, spiritually attuned, and good listeners. " With that in mind, why would anyone ask if a narcissist can also be an empath? Would an empath engage in gaslighting and manipulation? Would a sociopath try to take care of you? What is the psychology? And yet, shockingly, one of the questions I hear often is "Can a narcissist and an empath be the same person?" In this quick video, I'll answer that question - and I'll explain why.Subscribe to Narcissistic Abuse Recovery with Angie Atkinson on Soundwise
