When a person hesitates to give even a pot of water to a neighbouring house, sharing water between states becomes even more difficult. However, a national waterway system will definitely be developed. Instead of focusing only on linking rivers, each state should first use its own water resources properly.A National Waterway (NW) can support economic growth and may help people gain significant financial benefits. Tamil Nadu has a population of about 6 crore people. Even if just one percent of them, around 6 lakh people, come together, they can bring a major transformation. Like leader M. Karunanidhi's “Namakku Naame” initiative, people’s participation can help develop a waterway system in Tamil Nadu. This is not a dream but a practical and achievable plan.Floodwaters that cause damage in one region can instead be redirected for useful purposes across the country. We should connect and use water resources from each state effectively, not transfer one state’s water to another.We should pray and practice discipline daily for this project to succeed. Young people are already conducting awareness walks in connection with Swami Vivekananda’s 163rd birthday. Awareness programs are also being held in Madurai through peace rallies.This is a national development project, and everyone should support and implement it quickly. In a time when groundwater is decreasing and seawater is increasing, river water is essential for drinking purposes. Therefore, a National Waterway system is necessary.Words alone are not enough.
