Canada, What Is Happening To Us?

Something has changed in Canada, and I don't think it's for the better.The Canada-U.S. trade war has become about far more than tariffs and negotiations. Canadians are boycotting, booing, policing where other Canadians travel and what they buy, questioning one another's patriotism and increasingly treating disagreement as betrayal.So for this episode of Tap the Maple, I'm doing something different.This isn't another episode about Mark Carney. It isn't another episode about Donald Trump. And it isn't another argument about how Canada can become more economically competitive.This one is about us.When did loving Canada start requiring us to hate someone else? When did suffering become proof of patriotism? When did questioning our own government become disloyal? And when did being Canadian become so exhausting?I believe Canada should vigorously defend its interests. But defending Canada and becoming an angry country are two very different things.Maybe we don't need another slogan telling us how tough we are.Maybe we need to remember who we are.Elbows down. Heads up. Be neighbours again. Be Canadians again.
