Cape Town streets come alive with the vibrant Kaapse Klopse carnival.

from Update@Noon · host SAfm

Cape Town's streets are buzzing with music, colour and festivity today as thousands of minstrel's parade through Green Point for the annual Kaapse Klopse carnival.  This proud display of Cape Coloured cultural heritage features rhythmic beats and traditional songs. The event, organised by the Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association, proceeds following a recent court dispute between the Cape Town Minstrel Carnival Association and the City over the withdrawal of provisional approval for Vygieskraal Stadium in late 2025. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Clayton Morar, PR Manager at the Kaapse Klopse Karnival Association
