Carl Jung - A Vibration Born of Lack

from Angels Are Among Us’s Podcast · host Carl Jung

Carl Jung did not speak in business-school language, but he wrote very clearly about what happens psychologically when we chase money from a place of fear, lack, or insecurity. He would say that this behavior is not about money at all—it is a symptom of inner poverty. Here are the main Jungian ideas: 🌑 1. Money pursued from lack is a shadow substitute If you chase money because you feel unworthy, unsafe, or empty, Jung would call this a shadow compensation. You are trying to fill an inner void with an outer object. The more impoverished the soul, the more material riches it desires. In Jung’s framework, chasing money is often an attempt to: prove worth avoid shame buy love or approval escape powerlessness feel safe from the chaos of life Money becomes a symbol, not a tool. 🕳️ 2. What you chase controls you For Jung, obsession is a sign of possession. When we pursue money from fear: the ego becomes enslaved instincts dominate anxiety replaces creativity scarcity becomes identity You don’t own money—money owns you. This is what Jung meant by being “taken over by an archetype.” In this case, the archetype of the hungry god: never satisfied, always demanding more. 👤 3. Scarcity comes from the unlived life One of Jung’s most striking ideas is that psychological emptiness appears when a person has strayed too far from their true path. The more you abandon your inner calling, the more desperately you cling to external compensation. He taught that the psyche will punish you with: anxiety depression compulsive behaviors until you return to your authentic direction. 🔥 4. The danger of making money your god Jung warned that anything you treat like a god will eventually destroy you. Not because money is evil, but because inflation (ego swelling) is spiritually lethal. When your worth comes from numbers, status, or attention, you begin living in what Jung called the collective delusion— a life shaped by fear of loss and fear of judgment. You lose your soul to maintain an identity. 🌱 5. True wealth comes from the Self, not the ego Jung believed that when a person is aligned with their inner Self, material livelihood tends to follow naturally—not as a reward, but as the organic fruit of authenticity. Money gained from purpose is different than money grabbed from panic. Purpose → expansion Panic → contraction Creativity → circulation Fear → hoarding Jung would say that money is healthiest when it flows, not when it is chased. 🌙 6. The unconscious punishes shortcuts Jung emphasized that you cannot bypass growth. Chasing money from lack is like chasing relationships from loneliness— you create dependency, not fulfillment. The unconscious will sabotage: deals businesses opportunities relationships until you confront the wound beneath the hunger. 🌟 Jung’s lesson in one sentence If you pursue wealth because you feel empty, the empty part will grow. If you pursue your Self, the world tends to meet you halfway.   RaggetySam Creations Spotify Albums Mantras to Quiet the Soul (This is a link to one of my albums on spotify A Place Called Peace) https://open.spotify.com/album/7bMZqxq0TTw53NzK4akLrv?si=YpgZNBrfRmWDMq8T-RmYtA (This is a link to one of my albums on spotify Just Breathe) https://open.spotify.com/album/7bMZqxq0TTw53NzK4akLrv?si=co15_qSeQjiIHTk0u5dUrw Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/mettastateofmind/ See my coloring books!
