Cash Cobain

from The Truth Hurts w/ Jeff Weiss, Rosecrans Vic and Free · host POW Mag

Cash Cobain, the King of Sample Drill, joins Jeff Weiss & Mz.Free in LA for a conversation about his art and life on The Truth Hurts podcasts.Cash Cobain was born in the South Bronx, the same place as hip-hop. He grew up in the 50 Cent era, taught himself to make beats in FL Studio at age 9 and started recording songs when Pop Smoke was changing the face of New York. Now, his original sound defines the city.Inspired by Drake and Future, with a simplistic, minimalist spin, Cash Cobain says he makes songs because “I want people to dance and feel sexy.” He likes having a good time. Even the studio sessions are a party. His beats draw from whatever sample gives him that mood. He chops up everything and lets his label deal with the clearance formalities. He says, “I’m not emotional. Beats will make me cry, though.”He also claims “Everything in life is based on a woman,” and uses his lyrics to describe his  encounters and desires with specific females. He breaks down his approach to writing about women, and how his lyrics could be misconstrued. Cash Cobain also tells the story of going to the studio with Justin Bieber to lay down his verse on “SWAG,” recording his hit song “fisherrr,” and working with Ice Spice and PinkPantheress. Make sure you watch to see exactly why he’s so afraid of aliens, and why someone in this podcast studio could, in fact, be a shapeshifter from another planet.00:00 Intro 00:40 Upbringing in the South Bronx1:30 50 Cent2:37 His first beat pad4:48 Sampling off Youtube 5:08 Household7:00 South Carolina9:50 Drake11:20 Favorite producers & rappers14:47 How he started producing16:10 Jersey Club17:12 I Wanna Rock19:29 Transition to rapping 20:19 Cash Cobain name21:14 2016 through popping off23:00 Pop Smoke25:10 Finding his style & rap inspiration 26:45 Women31:43 SWAG with Justin Bieber 34:14 Navigating the industry 35:45 fisherrr37:40 Ice Spice and PinkPantheress38:45 Artists he imitated when he was young & becoming original 40:15 What inspires him42:00 Sampling 45:03 Slizzy46:06 Aliens49:50 Famous woman face 52:42 New album54:04 Lightning Round👍 Make sure you hit that like and subscribe button and leave a comment letting us know what you thought about the show! 👍📧 Email [email protected] for sponsorship opportunities. 📧🎤 The Truth Hurts is hosted by Jeff Weiss, Rosecrans Vic, & Free 🎤Follow The Truth Hurts on all PlatformsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/thetruthhurtspodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@truthhurtspodcastTwitter: https://x.com/Truth_Hurts_PodSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1BjMCTIiweZdCyT3DyseJtApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-truth-hurts-w-jeff-weiss-rosecrans-vic-and-free/id1813226752#cashcobain #drake #future #50cent #popsmoke #nyc #newyork #drill #sample #rapper  #la #hiphop #music #interview
