该抚自作遗书寄臣，中有云“优枕自揣，决无生机。续宜死何足惜。所最难安者，两朝之恩未报，老父子养未终，发逆蔓延，苗逆猖獗，敝部二万人分驻皖省，一切全赖主持。续宜卧病家山，奄奄待尽，心事未了，死不瞑目。前数日，原拟将未了事宜，力疾为一遗表。乃构思未就，遽尔病革，一息尚存，遗憾何极！伏恳具疏代达鄙忱，上谢圣朝高厚之恩，略表图报来生之意。
