Central State Hospital for the Insane

from Hoosier Homicide · host Danielle, Daniel, & Karla

Indiana Hospital for the Insane opened in 1848 after the first five patients were admitted into the sprawling 160-acre property. What later became known as Central State Hospital was located inside Indianapolis on the west side and was almost a small city itself. Doctors there were pushing the limits with cutting edge technology, all in order to diagnose and cure diseases of the body and mind. However, it would take decades of abuse and neglect before members of the government would be forced to acknowledge the crumbling institution that was Central State Hospital and the deaths that had taken place there. Listen now to find out just how much time Karla and Danielle's great-great grandmother spent inside the insane asylum! Part II will be out next week as we discuss the legal proceedings that resulted in the hospital’s closing and the idea of residual spirits that can never escape the haunted grounds. We get started right away at 5 minutes in! So you don't need to skip...unless you just can't take it...then I guess it's ok for you to skip... Unoffendable Adults Only! NSFW!
