Certain Hope in Uncertain Times ("Do You Have Your Head in the Sand?") - Tim Eyschen - 16 August 2026

from Fraser Coast Baptist Church · host FCBC

Are we paying attention to the reality of spiritual deception and the mystery of lawlessness already at work around us?In 2 Thessalonians 2:8–10, Paul reminds us that although the coming man of lawlessness will be empowered by Satan and accompanied by signs, miracles and wonders, his ultimate defeat is already certain. Jesus wins. There is no question about the outcome. And if we know that God wins in the end, it raises an important question: why are there so many miserable Christians today? Shouldn't God's people be marked by the joy of the Lord? Could it be that, in some cases, we have become so distracted or compromised by the mystery of lawlessness already at work that we have lost sight of the victory we have in Christ? This message also challenges us to consider whether we are discerning carefully enough what constitutes lawlessness and evil. There are practices, ideas and spiritual influences that may appear harmless on the surface, yet have origins that are completely opposed to God. Are Christians sometimes dipping their toes into things without stopping to ask where they come from or where they may lead?Paul's warning is therefore not simply about some future Antichrist. It is a call for Christians today to be alert, sober minded and spiritually discerning.Lawlessness is already at work. We don't always know where it is operating, and we may not recognise every attempt to undermine the work God is doing through us.So, Christian, do you need to get your head out of the sand?Be alert. Guard your heart. Test what you encounter against God's Word. And above all, remember that whatever happens, God wins in the end.Scripture: 2 Thessalonians 2:8–10#2Thessalonians #MysteryOfLawlessness #Antichrist #BibleProphecy #Eschatology #EndTimes #SpiritualDiscernment #ChristianLiving #SpiritualDeception #JoyOfTheLord #JesusWins #BibleStudy #FraserCoastBaptistChurch #TimEyschen
