Where Is the Love? | 2 Thessalonians 1:3b–4 | Fraser Coast Baptist ChurchWhat would it look like for a church to be so marked by Christlike love that no one would ever need to ask, “Where is the love?”In this sermon from 2 Thessalonians 1:3b–4, we explore how the apostle Paul commended the Thessalonian church because their love for one another was increasing. Their faith was growing, their endurance was deepening, and their love was overflowing even in the midst of persecution and suffering.That is the prayer for our church.This message challenges us to reflect honestly on whether our love is truly increasing — both individually and corporately. Wherever we find ourselves in life, may we be known as a people whose love is evident, active, and maturing.In this sermon, we consider:• Whether our actions reflect a genuine willingness to love — are we placing ourselves in environments where love can actually grow, such as regular participation in the local church?• The purity of our intentions — are we loving with proper motives and Christlike sincerity?• Our capacity to love — is busyness a legitimate reason, or are we allowing our mindset to limit what God wants to do through us?• Embracing our uniqueness — being open to God using us despite our limitations.• Loving through honesty — growing in biblical faithfulness such as living out Matthew 18:15.• The necessity of discernment — navigating seasons and situations wisely as we seek to love one another well.Verse 4 reminds us that growth often comes through discomfort. The Thessalonian believers were pushed out of their comfort zones through trials.
