Change of Plans for Alan and Mary on Recovery Now with Kim Justus

Alan Carter’s wife suffered an auto accident Sept 1989. Alan knew nothing about brain injury, so his journey began. He educated himself and then began helping other families and their survivors. It has not been easy undertaking. At age 20 when Mary’s accident occurred, they had only been married 3yrs. They had been living on two incomes. With one gone and mounting expenses, so many aspects of their lives drastically changed. It also proved difficult to maintain employment for him, because employers don’t understand the demands of caregiving. Though not been easy, they have been together for 31 years now, and he loves Mary all the more. This is a story of love, hope and so much more. He has served on many boards, and has been featured in several publications such as the Neuro Law Letter; Brainwave’s, Atlanta Journal Constitution and others. This show is a gathering place for anyone seeking recovery from the challenges of life on life's terms. We discuss useful tools that have helped us lighten the load, of our journey through recovery. This is a "we" recovery program, because it is in the "we," that we find the new "me." We focus on the four A's of Recovery: Awareness, Acceptance, Action and Adaptation.
