Chantel Monteith - Addiction & Finance

from WomanUp - There's only one you · host WomanUp

In this week's episode, we had the opportunity to interview the fiery Chantel Monteith. Chantel is a Financial Consultant Chantel grew up in Edmonton, into an average family with average struggles. It wasn’t until she battled through addiction and self destruction she realized she was meant to be EXTRA-Ordinary. Chantel shares her story about addiction and how it gave her the strength to heal from trauma and live up to her potential. Through love and connection, we can change the world together. In our chat with Chantel… We focus on addiction and finance. We dive right into Chantel’s past, where she bravely opens up about her drug addiction. “There’s someone in your life battling with some sort of addiction.” According to research and courses Chantel has attended, any addiction comes from the lack of connection in some area of your life that you desperately need. Chantel goes into depth explaining how she became a drug addict due to her need to form an intimate, love connection. A few relationships and wrong decisions later, Chantel faced her very own “rock bottom” moment that literally was the trigger in changing her life. Her last seizure. She was fortunate  to make it out alive and explains to us how ‘that Chantel’ died that day.  She began to surround herself with the right people! In fact, a great human was introduced into her life who believed in her and showed her that she is capable of great things as long as she showed up. This man is a part of a company of financial advisors, whose mission is to change people's unhealthy relationship with money. Chantel stresses the importance of how a single connection can change the course of your life with love and compassion. “I did not feel like a worthless piece of crap around him,” Chantel says. So, she left all addictions in the past and focused on the new opportunity that arose for her. Teamwork and helping people with their finances is her passion! Chantel explains to us the 6 steps of financial independence: 1.Cash Flow. What’s coming in and what’s going out 2.Debt Management. Debt is just a bad habit that we need to change 3.Emergency fund. It’s not a matter of if, but when 4.Proper Protection Plan. You are a money making machine and we need to protect you 5.Building Wealth. You control your money. Not vice versa 6.Perserve Wealth. You’ve spent so much time creating it, let’s make sure you get to keep it Most of us have an unhealthy relationship with money due to our upbringing. There’s such a taboo around money. We don’t talk about it. We don’t ask for help. First and foremost, most of us have never really learned how to control it. How can we possibly be good or fix something we’ve never learned? Something we never talk about? Chantel is here to answer these questions and introduce us to money 101. YOU control money, NOT vice versa. Success to Chantel is: “I measure success by the service I give to people.” Chantel’s message to women is: “Share love.” To connect with Chantel, find her on the following platforms: IG: @chantel_monteith_ceo Facebook: Chantel Monteith LinkedIn: Chantel Monteith
