Chat with HALIE

from Coda Country Chats · host Coda Country

Leigh chats with HALIE about her newest single release, "Whiskey Girl" as well as her upcoming release of "Runaway Cowboy". About HALIE: HALIE was born and raised in the small town of Thayer, Missouri that boarders the Arkansas state line. With a population of just 1,860 people. Her time growing up was spent cheering at football games, hanging out with friends, swimming at the Spring River, but mostly, she could be found in her parents basement, watching her brothers have band practice. It’s no wonder Halie found her own musical gift. Around the age of 10, Halie had a vocal ability that could only be described as a gift from God. She could effortlessly reach extremely high notes which made her family and the community take notice. Soon after, HALIE started teaching herself to play guitar, piano and other instruments. During her last year of High School, the idea of living the “Artist Life” was on Halie's mind constantly. Just one week after graduation, Halie packed her bags, to get to work in Nashville. After much soul searching and finding her common ground with the Nashville scene, HALIE started writing songs as much as possible while working to keep herself sustainable. After hundreds of local writers rounds and writing sessions with new friends, things started to roll. Over the next two years, she logged two TV shows appearances. — One being, NBC’s Songland. This is where HALIE proved her songwriting abilities and won that season of the show. Martina McBride was especially moved by Halie and her music. After listening to HALIE sing her original song, “GIRLS LIKE ME” — Martina chose her song to release as her next single. HALIE’S career would take an important turn from that point on. Later, Halie was pulled in at last minute to represent her home state of Missouri to another NBC show called America’s Song Contest. So many new opportunities are being presented for future plans. As the future approaches quickly, Halie is ready to write and release a consistent stream of music for her future fans. Nothing is guaranteed in the business of music, but what is, is that Halie is here to stay, and has plenty to say about her story and the story of others who are just like her, a girl who never let go of a dream.
