Proverbs 12:15 says:“The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.”Today's Episode: Check The ReplayAt the U.S. Open, one ball can land so close to the line that half the stadium sees it in and the other half sees it out.The player is certain.The opponent is certain.The crowd is certain.And somehow everybody saw a different ball!That’s why you check the replay.Not because your eyes were deceived—your angle just limited what you could see.Proverbs 12:15 says:“The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.”Did you catch what makes foolishness so dangerous?The fool’s way doesn’t look foolish to the fool.It seems right.That’s the power of self-deception. You’re not always knowingly choosing what is wrong. Sometimes, from where you’re standing, wrong looks right.Self-reliance becomes self-deception when “I trust myself” quietly turns into “I cannot be questioned.”And that’s when we need enough humility to say something uncomfortable:If I’m not paying attention, I can destroy myself.Not because I’m evil. Not because I should hate or distrust myself. But because I’m capable of misreading my own life.I can mistake applause for confirmation.Busyness for purpose.Avoidance for peace.A closed door for rejection.And if I refuse to even consider another angle, I can keep making the wrong call with complete confidence.But the wise listen to advice.Listening doesn’t mean surrendering your discernment or handing somebody else the remote control to your life.Wise counsel is not control.It’s replay.It gives you another angle before you make the final call.That advice should come from people who have earned the right to speak—people with wisdom, honesty, love and enough courage to disagree with you.And ultimately, we bring every angle before God and test it against Scripture, the character of Christ and the fruit it produces.So before you defend the call, check the replay.Before you say, “That’s just who I am,” check the replay.Before you end the relationship, quit the assignment, send the text or make the purchase—check the replay.You may still reach the same decision.But wisdom isn’t embarrassed when another angle confirms the call—or overturns it.Everybody wants to be right.Wisdom wants to get it right.🔥 REMEMBERYour viewpoint may be honest without being the whole court.🙏🏽 PRAYERGod, reveal my blind spots and teach me to listen.🎯 TODAY’S CHALLENGEReplay one decision from this week.
