Choices, Consequences, and Persistent Prayer: Deuteronomy 28 and Luke 18 (Day 107)

What determines the direction of our lives? Today in Deuteronomy, we encounter one of the most sobering chapters in the Bible. Moses outlines the terrifying consequences of turning away from God’s covenant, serving as a powerful reminder of the weight of our spiritual choices. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus offers the remedy for a heavy heart: persistent prayer. Through the Parable of the Persistent Widow and the story of the Pharisee and the Tax Collector, He shows us that God responds to the humble and the hungry, not the self-righteous.Today’s Scripture:📖 Deuteronomy 28:15–68 – A long and intense list of the "curses for disobedience." Moses describes the physical, social, and national ruin that follows an intentional departure from God. While difficult to read, these verses underscore the absolute holiness of God and the seriousness of the covenant Israel made at Sinai.📖 Luke 18:1–30 – Jesus teaches that we "ought always to pray and not lose heart." We see the contrast between the proud Pharisee and the repentant Tax Collector, the welcoming of the little children, and the encounter with the Rich Young Ruler who found it hard to leave his earthly "blessings" to follow the True Blessing.📖 Psalm 47:1–9 – A joyful shout of praise: "Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
